Retired referee Alex Kotey has apologized to former GFA Vice President George Afriyie after alleging that Afriyie attempted to bribe him during his time with Swedru All Blacks.
Kotey, speaking on Top FM, retracted his claim and stated he never intended to damage Afriyie’s reputation.
Afriyie had threatened legal action, denying the allegation and instructing his lawyers to pursue the matter.
Kotey initially claimed Afriyie visited his house with a mutual friend and tried to offer him money, but he refused. In response, Afriyie insisted Kotey never officiated any of All Blacks' three matches against Kotoko.
Afriyie was instrumental in All Blacks’ promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2005 before leaving in 2008.
