Retired Dutch coach Hans Van Der Pluijm has shared insights into the challenges he faced during his coaching career in Ghana.
The 75-year-old managed several teams, including Berekum Chelsea, Medeama SC, Heart of Lions, WAFA, and the defunct Ashantigold and Red Bull Soccer Academy.
Speaking to Pan Africa Football, Van Der Pluijm revealed interference from club management in team selection, which he often resisted, believing coaches should have full control over their squads.
He emphasized that clubs should trust a coach’s abilities and only take action if results are unsatisfactory. Beyond Ghana, Van Der Pluijm also coached in Tanzania, leading Young Africans, Azam FC, and two Singida clubs, further cementing his legacy in African football.
