Rev. Osei Kofi Shares Family Struggles Behind Move to Kotoko

Asante Kotoko legend Rev. Osei Kofi shared the emotional story behind his controversial move from Hearts of Oak to Kotoko.

Speaking on Channel One TV, he revealed how his father's struggles influenced his decision: “My father ate leftovers from what the woman sold in the market and when he wanted a divorce, the court demanded £30.”

After Hearts of Oak’s 1964 league victory, a Kotoko official suggested to Mr. Adusei, “Why don’t you pay the £30 so Osei can go to Kotoko?” That night, Osei Kofi left Accra for Kumasi. The £30 helped his father’s divorce, a turning point that marked Osei Kofi’s legendary career at Kotoko, cementing his place in Ghanaian football history.
