Ronaldo fires Portugal into Nations League final with 2-1 win over Germany in Munich

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 137th international goal for Portugal. They came from behind to beat Germany and reach the Nations League final.

The 40-year-old tapped in a low pass from Nuno Mendes in the 68th minute. This goal proved to be the winner, setting up a final against either France or Spain.

Ronaldo's goal came just five minutes after Francisco Conceicao equalized. Conceicao canceled out Florian Wirtz's opener for Germany in the 48th minute.

Portugal won the first tournament in 2019. Their hopes for a second title looked slim when they fell behind in Munich.

Bayer Leverkusen forward Wirtz headed Germany in front. He connected with a clever lofted ball from Joshua Kimmich, who was making his 100th appearance.

Portugal were upset that the goal stood. They believed German debutant Nick Woltemade blocked defender Ruben Dias. Referee Slavko Vincic reviewed the incident but allowed the goal.

Substitute Conceicao scored an impressive equalizer in the 63rd minute. He collected the ball near the right touchline and curled it past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Ronaldo, unmarked from close range, added Portugal's second goal. This turned the match around, although Germany nearly forced extra time when Karim Adeyemi hit the post.

France and Spain will play their semi-final on Thursday in Stuttgart. The final will take place in Munich on Sunday.
