Brazil football legend Ronaldo, aged 48, has announced his candidacy for president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) with the goal of restoring the national team’s prestige.
Ronaldo, a two-time World Cup winner and former Real Madrid star, aims to revive interest in Brazil’s football, which has waned in recent years despite having top players like Neymar and Vinícius Jr.
Brazil has struggled in recent tournaments, failing to reach a World Cup semifinal since 2002.
Ronaldo criticized the lack of progress, emphasizing that Brazil’s talent should lead to more success.
As part of his presidential campaign, Ronaldo will sell his stake in Spanish club Real Valladolid.
