Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim explained that substituting Joshua Zirkzee in the first half of their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle was "tough" but necessary for the team.
Zirkzee, filling in for the suspended Bruno Fernandes, struggled in the game and was replaced after 32 minutes, with reports suggesting he was visibly upset. Amorim emphasized, "You have to think about the team," noting the need for a stronger midfield after United were overrun early on.
He reassured that Zirkzee's confidence wouldn't suffer, stating, "He is a really good guy," and assured fans that the player would have continued support. Amorim added that Newcastle were better overall, but not "better than Josh." United face Liverpool next.
