SWAG Awards set to honour Ghanaian excellence on Friday – Charles Osei Assibey

The General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Charles Osei Assibey, has confirmed that the 49th SWAG Awards will take place as planned on Friday at the Accra International Conference Center.

Preparations for the event have been ongoing for three months, involving nominations and finalizing award categories.

Key awards such as the Meritorious Award and Discovery of the Year have already been decided, while others, like Hockey Player of the Year, will soon be voted on.

Assibey emphasized the significance of the SWAG Awards in honoring Ghanaian sports heroes, a responsibility he believes should ideally be government-led but has been successfully handled by SWAG.

The ceremony continues to uphold its tradition of celebrating excellence in Ghanaian sports.
