Sunderland midfielder Salis Abdul Samed is set to return to the Ghana national team after missing last year’s AFCON qualifiers due to injury.
The RC Lens player, currently on loan at Sunderland, last featured for the Black Stars in June 2024 during a World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic.
Having recovered, he has made six appearances in the English Championship. His return is a major boost for Ghana ahead of next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
His absence was felt as Ghana failed to qualify for AFCON 2025. Coach Otto Addo, currently scouting players in Europe, will announce his squad in two weeks, with Abdul Samed expected to be included.
