Former Ghana international Sam Johnson has called on Black Stars players to push beyond their limits ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years, the team shifts focus to crucial qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in March.
Johnson expressed confidence in head coach Otto Addo’s ability to lead the team to the World Cup but emphasized that success also depends on player commitment.
“I have confidence in Otto Addo. He can qualify us for the World Cup, but football is not only about the coach,” Johnson told Sporty FM.
The former Fenerbahçe defender urged players to take personal responsibility, saying, “If the coach is not good, what am I doing for myself on the field? Do something.”
Ghana currently sits second in Group I with nine points after four matches.
