Former GFA Executive Council member Samuel Anim Addo has criticized the appointment of Winfried Schaffer as the Black Stars' technical advisor and Director of Football, questioning his relevance in modern football.
The Ghana FA recently revamped the Black Stars’ technical team, adding Schaffer, who led Cameroon to the 2002 AFCON title, alongside assistant coach Desmond Offei, sports psychologist Kris Perquy, and video analyst Gregory De Grauwe.
Anim Addo argued that Schaffer has been inactive and suggested appointing a younger, more modern coach.
He also pointed out that Otto Addo, despite not meeting all criteria, was given the head coach role, implying a younger technical leader should have been considered.
Despite the criticism, Schaffer is expected to work closely with Addo as Ghana prepares for upcoming tournaments.
