Former Black Stars player Samuel Inkoom, aged 35, appeared before the Circuit Court in Accra on Tuesday, facing two charges of defrauding by false pretenses.
The court, presided over by Her Honour Susan Eduful, granted Inkoom bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties and ordered him to deposit his passport with the court until the trial concludes.
The case is scheduled to reconvene on January 27, 2025.
Inkoom is accused of defrauding two complainants, Elizabeth Atarime Mboh Awuni and Abigail Owusu, of $6,000 by falsely promising to secure U.S. visas for them.
The prosecution alleges that he failed to deliver on his promises and went into hiding after receiving the payments.
Investigations revealed that Inkoom had no U.S.-based partner to assist with the visa process.
If found guilty, Inkoom could face significant penalties under the Criminal Offenses Act.
