Serie A games postponed after death of Pope Francis

All four Serie A matches scheduled for Monday have been postponed. This decision follows the death of Pope Francis.

The Vatican announced on Monday morning that Pope Francis died at 88. He had recently been discharged from the hospital after five weeks of treatment for an infection.

The postponed matches included Torino vs. Udinese, Cagliari vs. Fiorentina, Genoa vs. Lazio, and Parma vs. Juventus. These games were set to take place on Easter Monday, a national holiday in Italy.

The governing body for Italian football stated that the fixtures would be rescheduled soon.

Pope Francis became the leader of the Catholic Church in 2013. He replaced Pope Benedict XVI.

He was an avid football fan and supported Argentine club San Lorenzo since childhood.

Several Serie A clubs shared tributes to the Pope after his passing.

Roma released a statement saying, "A loss that deeply saddens our city and the entire world."

They added that his faith, humility, courage, and dedication touched millions of hearts.
