Former Real Tamale United (RTU) head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko is hopeful about the club's future. This optimism comes after a recent setback in their promotion efforts.
RTU lost 2-1 to Techiman Eleven Wonders last Friday. This defeat occurred during a Division One playoff at the Accra Sports Stadium. The loss ended their hopes of returning to the Ghana Premier League.
Despite this disappointment, Tanko sees potential for next season. He believes the foundation laid this year will help them improve. “Rebuilding is an effort,” he said on Joy FM.
Tanko praised the team's progress, saying they have come far. He hopes they can maintain their composure for future success.
Last season, RTU faced relegation amid controversy. They fielded unregistered players against Dreams FC. Many expected them to drop to lower tiers, but the Ghana Football Association sanctioned officials instead. This decision allowed RTU to stay in Division One, where they reached the playoffs but ultimately fell short.
