Sir Jim Ratcliffe has admitted that Manchester United made a mistake in extending Erik ten Hag's contract last summer.

The decision came after Ten Hag led United to a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, despite the club's disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

Although United earned a Europa League spot through the cup win, Ratcliffe acknowledged the decision was premature.

After a poor start to the season, Ten Hag was dismissed. Ratcliffe accepted responsibility for the error and apologized, stating it was difficult to assess Ten Hag's performance due to the club’s broader organizational issues.

He also revealed Ten Hag’s influence on player signings, mentioning Dutch players brought in due to the manager's input.

Ratcliffe further criticized several players for being "not good enough" and "overpaid," including struggling forward Rasmus Højlund.
