Somalia: NUSOJ Decries Targeted Intimidation of Journalists By Security Forces in Mogadishu

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) condemns the detention and harassment of eleven journalists. This incident occurred on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Mogadishu. Officers from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) were involved. Both uniformed and plainclothes agents acted in broad daylight across the city.

The journalists worked for five respected media houses. They were gathering public opinions on opposition politicians returning to Mogadishu. Their goal was to reflect citizens' views on these political developments.
