Former Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, believes Otto Addo’s decision to exclude Andre Ayew negatively impacted the Black Stars' failed AFCON qualification campaign.
Ghana, four-time African champions, missed the tournament for the first time in 20 years after finishing last in Group F.
While Daara supports Addo’s continued tenure, he criticized the handling of Ayew’s exclusion, suggesting it should have been left to the player to step aside voluntarily. Daara noted that this decision alienated fans and ex-players who often criticize the premature retirement of players.
Ayew, absent from the national team since March, has since joined French club Le Havre. Daara hopes Addo will learn from this experience to strengthen the team's prospects in future competitions.
