The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) held its general assembly, led by new president Rafael Louzán, who secured approval for a €372 million budget with no opposition. Louzán’s salary was set at €379,000 per year, half of what former president Luis Rubiales earned.
A new regulation, dubbed the ‘anti-Piqué law,’ was introduced, prohibiting commercial relationships between the RFEF and active sports professionals for international competitions.
This follows controversy over a deal brokered by Gerard Piqué’s company to move the Spanish Supercup to Saudi Arabia under Rubiales.
Investigations continue into whether their relationship led to financial kickbacks, while Rubiales faces multiple legal battles, including a trial for sexual assault involving Jenni Hermoso. The assembly marked a shift towards transparency under the new leadership.
