Sports Ministry, GBA to probe death of Nigerian boxer

The death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju is under investigation.

He collapsed in the ring during the third round of a match. His opponent was Ghanaian boxer John Mbanugu. This event took place at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful. He was declared dead shortly after at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.

The incident has drawn condolences from many individuals and organizations. This includes Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Ministry and the Ghana Boxing Authority.
