Tottenham Hotspur's Rodrigo Bentancur will serve the final two matches of his seven-match domestic ban after the Football Association rejected his appeal.
The Uruguayan midfielder was suspended in November for using a racial slur towards teammate Son Heung-min during a TV interview.
While Spurs accepted the ban, they appealed its severity, but the appeal was dismissed.
Bentancur will miss upcoming matches against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup and Liverpool in the Premier League.
He has been allowed to play in the Europa League since the ban only applies to domestic competitions. Anti-racism organizations Kick It Out and The Frank Soo Foundation expressed concern over the club's appeal, calling it upsetting for many fans.
