Steering the ship: How new Black Stars management committee can spark a turnaround

Randy Abbey Randy Abbey

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed a new management committee for the Black Stars, led by Dr. Randy Abbey, with former captain Stephen Appiah as Vice-Chairman. Other members include Samuel Aboabire, Moses Armah, and Richard Nsenkyire.

This change follows Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), their first absence since 2004, after poor results under coach Otto Addo.

To revive the Black Stars, the committee is advised to: strengthen technical leadership by appointing a proven head coach; enhance player development through improved scouting and youth academies; foster team cohesion through morale-building initiatives; upgrade infrastructure and logistics; engage stakeholders for support; and set clear performance goals.

These measures aim to restore Ghana’s competitive edge on the international stage.
