Stephen Curry came close to making history on Monday night as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 130-120.
Needing seven three-pointers to become the first NBA player to reach 4,000 career threes, Curry made five of eleven attempts, finishing with 24 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Despite missing his last four attempts, his fourth three-pointer brought his season total to 250, an NBA record 11th time achieving that milestone.
Curry now has 3,998 career three-pointers, extending his record as the all-time leader, which he set in 2021 after surpassing Ray Allen’s 2,974 threes. He remains on the brink of 4,000, with James Harden (3,117) trailing in second place.
