Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation-designate, Kofi Adams, has revealed ongoing discussions to provide financial assistance to players in the Ghana Premier League. Low wages have driven many players to leave the league, reducing its quality.
Speaking at the Vetting Committee, Adams emphasized the importance of retaining top talents and proposed stipends as a possible solution.
He highlighted how some Ghanaian players even move to war-torn countries for better earnings, underscoring the urgency of financial support.
Adams believes this initiative will strengthen the league and improve player retention.
He now awaits parliamentary approval to officially assume his role, replacing Mustapha Ussif if confirmed.
