Ghana and Southampton star Kamaldeen Sulemana believes Jordan Ayew is the greatest Ghanaian in the English Premier League.
Sulemana’s choice stands out among many talented Ghanaians in the EPL. This includes legends like Tony Yeboah, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, and Christian Atsu. Current stars like Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus also represent Ghana.
Jordan Ayew began his Premier League journey in 2015. He joined Aston Villa from Lorient at age 24. During two seasons with Villa, he scored 9 goals in 51 matches before their relegation.
In January 2017, Ayew moved to Swansea City. He scored 8 goals over two years there despite the team’s relegation in 2018.
Ayew's career peaked at Crystal Palace. He signed permanently in 2019 after a loan spell from Swansea. Over six seasons with Palace, he became a fan favorite, scoring 23 goals in 203 games. He also won the club’s Player of the Season award for 2019-20.
In 2024, Ayew joined Leicester City and continued to add to his tally.
When asked about the best Ghanaian player in the Premier League during a Showmax interview, Sulemana said: “The one with the most goals is Jordan Ayew.” He noted that Ayew has played for years and scored many goals.
Now at age 33, Ayew recently reached a milestone of 300 Premier League appearances. His stats include 41 goals and 25 assists. This makes him Ghana’s top-scoring EPL player, surpassing Tony Yeboah’s total of 24 goals and Michael Essien’s total of 17.
