Accra Hearts of Oak ended their losing streak against Asante Kotoko. They drew 0-0 in Sunday’s Super Clash.
The match was likely the least interesting in their history. It took place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kotoko started conservatively but had the first chance to score. Kwame Opoku, who had seven goals this season, broke free on a counter. A timely tackle by Konadu Yiadom stopped him just before he could shoot.
After that, Hearts took control but struggled to create chances. Their build-up play was slow and lacked threat.
Kotako sat back and also failed to threaten on counterattacks. Both teams continued to struggle until halftime.
The second half began with a better opportunity for Hearts. Stephen Appiah Asare received a pass from Hussein Mohammed but shot straight at goalkeeper Mohammed Camara in the 47th minute.
Kotoko then pushed forward, trying to take control of the game. However, Baba Yahaya, Albert Amoah, and Kwame Opoku played without urgency.
Around the hour mark, Raphael Amponsah of Hearts turned away from his marker but missed high over the bar.
With ten minutes left, Kotako nearly scored when Albert Amoah found space in the penalty area. His quick shot went wide of the target.
Following that chance, Kotoko launched several attacks down the right side. Each ended with harmless crosses caught by Hearts keeper Benjamin Asare.
The draw leaves Hearts in 6th place with 46 points. They are five points behind rivals Asante Kotoko.
