Former Black Stars Management Committee member Ernest Thompson has called for a complete overhaul of Ghana’s national football team to address its recent decline.
His remarks come after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in over 20 years, finishing last in their group without a win.
Thompson attributed the team’s struggles to internal divisions and suggested disbanding the current squad and rebuilding with a new technical team. He believes this approach will restore the team’s competitiveness.
The Ghana Football Association's Executive Council is scheduled to meet on November 27, 2024, to decide the fate of head coach Otto Addo, a critical step in shaping the team’s future. Thompson remains optimistic about a turnaround with the right changes.
