Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren believes a red card significantly affected Ghana’s rhythm in their 1-0 victory over Senegal during an international friendly.
Midfielder Anasthesia Achiaa was sent off early in the second half, forcing the Queens to adjust their approach.
"The red card changed everything,” Bjorkegren said, noting the team had initially tried to adapt to Senegal’s physical style but lost control after the sending-off.
Despite the setback, Evelyn Badu’s well-timed header in the first half secured Ghana’s first win since December 2023.
The coach praised the team’s early execution, describing the goal as “exactly how we wanted to play.”
The Black Queens will face Senegal again on Tuesday as part of their build-up to the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco this July.
