Aziz Issah (10) played against Egypt in a recent match.
Charles Allotey, a former Ghana U-17 World Cup winner, criticized the Black Satellites. He questioned their mentality and desire after they failed to qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Ghana lost to Egypt in a penalty shootout, 5-4, after a 2-2 draw. Allotey believes the players lacked hunger and aggression. He said, “They are not angry enough for the cup.”
He noted that the players did not seem to fight hard enough. When Egypt scored their two goals, it was due to Ghana's mistakes.
Allotey also mentioned complacency as a factor in the loss. The team underestimated Egypt based on previous performances in the tournament.
After equalizing, he expected them to push for a third goal. Instead, they became complacent and assumed victory over Egypt. “That’s not how competitions work,” he stated.
He emphasized treating every opponent as a threat in tournaments. Ghana's exit means they have not qualified for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup since 2015.
