Ghana football legend George Alhassan has criticized the Black Stars' assistant coaches, accusing them of failing to support head coach Otto Addo during the team’s poor 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars finished last in Group F with three points, marking their first failure to qualify for AFCON in 20 years.
Alhassan, a 1982 AFCON winner, questioned the assistants' effectiveness, suggesting they either lacked input or were hesitant to collaborate with Addo.
The coaching team includes John Paintsil, Joseph Laumann, and Fatawu Dauda. Despite the setback, reports indicate Otto Addo may be retained, with potential changes to his backroom staff.
He emphasized the importance of teamwork within the technical staff to prevent such failures in the future.
