Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has called for authorities to "make examples" of online trolls who subject players, managers, and referees to abuse.
His comments follow a disturbing incident where Premier League referee Michael Oliver received threats after sending off Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly against Wolves. The decision was later overturned, but Oliver was placed under police protection due to the backlash.
Postecoglou, who himself has faced criticism over Tottenham's poor form, stressed the need for action to combat online harassment, suggesting that removing anonymity on social media and punishing perpetrators would be effective measures. He emphasized that such actions could be easily implemented to deter abuse and protect those in the public eye.
