Three women, including two South Africans and a Nigerian, have been remanded into custody by an Accra High Court for allegedly smuggling over 16 kilograms of methamphetamine into Ghana.

The women were arrested at Kotoka International Airport on January 20, 2025, by Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) officials, with the drugs concealed in their suitcases.

Although the court, led by Justice Kizita Quarshie, did not take their pleas, the accused were remanded until their next appearance on February 11, 2025.

The court instructed them to secure legal representation.

Senior State Attorney Watkins Adama told the court that the investigation involves additional individuals, and the Ghana Standards Authority will confirm the nature of the substances.

The three women were allegedly involved in a narcotics exchange at the airport.
