Lucas Bergvall scored a late goal to give Tottenham a 1-0 lead over Liverpool in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final.
The decisive moment came in the 86th minute when Bergvall slotted home a cutback from Dominic Solanke. Earlier, Solanke had a goal ruled out for offside, and Spurs were denied by Liverpool's defense, with Virgil van Dijk blocking an open goal chance from Pedro Porro. There were also injury concerns for Tottenham as Rodrigo Bentancur was stretchered off early on.
Despite missing chances, Liverpool remained dangerous, but Bergvall's goal left Spurs with a slender advantage ahead of the return leg at Anfield. Bergvall, at 18 years old, became the youngest Spurs player to score in the EFL Cup since Gareth Bale.
