Trent Alexander-Arnold joins Real Madrid

Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid on Sunday, June 1. Liverpool accepted a fee of 10 million euros (£8.4 million) to release him early.

Real Madrid made a single, up-front payment for the England right-back. This allows him to play in the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold confirmed he would leave Liverpool this summer. He has signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old could have left Liverpool for free on June 30. FIFA approved an additional transfer window from June 1-10. This lets teams register new players for the Club World Cup starting on June 14 in the United States.

Real's first group game is against Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia on June 18 in Miami.

Alexander-Arnold joined Liverpool at age six and has been with them since then. He won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, and several other trophies with the club.

Earlier this month, he stated he wanted a "new challenge." He aims to push himself "personally and professionally."

During his time at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold scored 23 goals and provided 92 assists in 354 appearances.

He will reunite with England teammate Jude Bellingham in Madrid. Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is now Real's manager after replacing Carlo Ancelotti.

Alonso took over after Real failed to win any major trophies since the 2020-21 season.
