The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 35-year-old man. He is accused of forging judicial documents, bank stamps, and an indenture.
Richard Aryee is unemployed. He appeared in an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday with Isaac Tse, 55, a printer.
Mr. Aryee faces two charges: forgery of judicial documents and possession of forged documents. Mr. Tse is charged with abetment of crime and possession of forged receipts. Both men pleaded not guilty.
The court, led by Mrs. Susan Eduful, granted bail to each man. They must pay GH¢100,000 and provide two sureties who are public servants earning at least GH¢5,000 monthly.
The prosecution must follow the rules of disclosure. The case was adjourned to June 24, 2025.
Lawyers for the accused requested bail. They argued their clients were not flight risks and had stable homes. They also stated the men would not interfere with the investigation.
Chief Inspector Benson Benneh opposed bail. He said police were still looking for other accomplices.
The complainant is Mr. Kwame Daniels, Registrar of the High Court (Human Rights, Labour and Family Court). Mr. Aryee lives at Agege 205 near Dansoman; Mr. Tse resides on High Street in Accra.
On May 20, Mr. Daniels received a tip-off about Mr. Aryee's activities near the court area. It was reported that he was forging signatures on land document indentures.
Mr. Daniels monitored Mr. Aryee and arrested him with Court Warrant Officers near the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
A bag found with Aryee contained stamps bearing names from various institutions including Ecobank Ghana Plc and legal practitioners David A. Koko and A.W. Quartey Papafio.
Police also recovered a forged Judicial Service counterfoil receipt booklet and an AMA receipt booklet along with an indenture for Moses Tawiah Asamoah—all bearing forged signatures and seals.
Mr. Aryee admitted to using these forged materials for land documents and implicated Mr. Tse as the printer of fake receipts.
Mr. Tse was arrested at his printing shop in Akoto Lantey, James Town where four receipt booklets were found.
Both suspects were taken to the Regional CID in Accra where caution statements were obtained admitting their offences.
