Ghana’s U-20 men’s national team, the Black Satellites, faces a tough challenge. They are in Group C for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Their opponents include defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) held a revised draw on April 13, 2025. This followed Côte d’Ivoire's withdrawal as tournament hosts. Egypt will now host the competition from April 27 to May 18, 2025.
The tournament will feature 13 teams from across Africa. The teams are divided into three groups: one with five teams and two with four each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. Additionally, the two best third-placed teams will also progress.
Group C is considered one of the most competitive groups in the tournament. Ghana will compete against reigning champions Senegal, who won in 2023. They will also face a strong DR Congo team and an emerging Central African Republic side.
The CAF U-20 AFCON has a history of showcasing future football stars. Past tournaments have launched careers for icons like Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen. As young talents prepare to shine in Egypt, Ghana aims to restore its youth football legacy and reclaim its elite status.
