Barcelona has advanced to the Champions League semifinals. They secured a 5-3 aggregate win, despite losing 3-1 at Borussia Dortmund. Serhou Guirassy scored a hat-trick for Dortmund.
Barcelona had a strong start with a 4-0 lead from the first leg. However, they faced pressure as Dortmund fought back.
Guirassy opened the scoring with a Panenka penalty in the 11th minute. He then headed in another goal early in the second half.
Dortmund sensed an upset but Barcelona responded quickly. Fermin Lopez forced an own goal from Ramy Bensebaini with just over half an hour left.
Guirassy scored again in the 76th minute, reigniting Dortmund's hopes. The match could have changed if Julian Brandt hadn’t been offside before scoring late on.
Despite their first loss of 2025, Barcelona remains in contention for a treble. This would be their first since winning the Champions League in Berlin ten years ago.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised Dortmund’s effort. He emphasized focusing on positives rather than negatives.
Flick noted that the team's recent performances have been impressive. He believes there is still much ahead this season.
As favorites for the title, Barcelona will face either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich next.
