UEFA Nations League Semis: Cristiano Ronaldo scores winner as Portugal beat Germany

Portugal celebrated a victory over Germany in the UEFA Nations League semifinals. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 137th international goal for Portugal. He tapped in Nuno Mendes' low pass in the 68th minute. This goal proved to be the winner, sending Portugal to the final.

Ronaldo's goal came just five minutes after Francisco Conceicao equalized. Conceicao scored in the 63rd minute, canceling out Florian Wirtz's opener for Germany. Wirtz had given Germany the lead with a header in the 48th minute.

Wirtz's goal followed a clever lofted ball from Joshua Kimmich. Kimmich was making his 100th appearance for Germany. Portugal was upset that Wirtz's goal stood, believing Nick Woltemade blocked defender Ruben Dias.

Despite their protests, referee Slavko Vincic allowed the goal after reviewing it. Conceicao’s equalizer came shortly after he substituted into the game. He ran at the German defense and curled an excellent shot past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Ronaldo then scored from close range to give Portugal the lead. Germany nearly forced extra time when Karim Adeyemi hit the post late in the match. The final will be held on Sunday in Munich, following France and Spain's semifinal on Thursday in Stuttgart.
