UK Sport will invest a record £330m in Britain's Olympic and Paralympic sports for the 2028 Los Angeles Games, benefiting over 50 sports.
This includes funding for five new sports: baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, Para-climbing, and squash.
However, athletics faces a second consecutive budget cut, despite its strong performance at the 2023 World Championships and the 2024 Olympics. Canoeing, modern pentathlon, and equestrian also received funding reductions, while rowing's budget increased.
UK Athletics will receive over £30m, but CEO Jack Buckner expressed disappointment with the £1.725m cut.
UK Sport aims to maintain a top-five finish in future Olympics, with a focus on improving performance factors to avoid setbacks like the seventh-place finish in 2024.
