Victor Osimhen scores as Galatasaray fall to Ajax in Europa League

Victor Osimhen scored a late goal for Galatasaray, but it was not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat to Ajax in the UEFA Europa League at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

The result secured Ajax a playoff spot, while Galatasaray also progressed despite seeing their 26-game unbeaten run end.

Bertrand Traore gave Ajax the lead in the 23rd minute, reacting to a rebound, before Kian Fitz-Jim doubled their advantage in the second half.

Osimhen, after missing earlier chances, scored a stoppage-time consolation for Galatasaray.

Ajax’s disciplined defense and clinical finishing secured the win, with veteran goalkeeper Remko Pasveer captaining the side.

Both teams will now focus on the next phase of the competition, with Galatasaray eager to bounce back.
