Aston Villa legend Gary Shaw died at 63 from a severe head injury sustained in a fall after a night out on 5 September.

Found collapsed outside his home, Shaw was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital but passed away on 16 September.

The inquest ruled his death as accidental. Shaw, a prolific striker, scored 79 goals in 213 games for Villa, winning accolades such as PFA Young Player of the Year (1981) and European Young Player of the Year (1982). He also represented Blackpool, Walsall, Kilmarnock, and Shrewsbury Town.

Post-retirement in 1992, Shaw worked as a statistical analyst and served as a club ambassador. Fans gathered at Villa Park in October to pay respects during his funeral procession to Sutton Coldfield Crematorium.
