On February 6, 2025, the Golden State Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat in a four-team trade.
The Warriors received Butler, while the Heat got Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round pick. The Jazz received Dennis Schröder, and the Pistons obtained Lindy Waters III and Josh Richardson.
Butler’s departure from Miami followed tensions over his contract, with the team refusing to offer him the extension he sought.
After multiple suspensions, including one for leaving a shootaround early in January 2025, Butler’s exit was inevitable.
The Warriors now look to add Butler’s competitive edge to their roster, with Stephen Curry optimistic about the new addition.
The first matchup between Golden State and Miami, featuring Butler in a Warriors jersey, is scheduled for March 25.
