We are using Unity Cup to test our players- Black Stars head coach Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo sees the 2025 Unity Cup as a chance to test more players. The tournament runs from May 28 to May 31 in London, England. Ghana will compete against Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

Addo released his squad list on Monday, May 26. Notably absent are big names like Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus. However, four players from the Ghana Premier League made the squad. This includes Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku.

Otto Addo believes this tournament is a great opportunity for player evaluation. He stated, “We are using this opportunity to test our players.” He emphasized that they want to see if these players can perform at a high level.

Addo also mentioned that this is a good test for upcoming World Cup games in September. He expressed happiness about giving young players chances to showcase their skills. After the tournament, he expects some questions about player selection will be answered.
