“We can’t afford to be complacent” Black Satellites Coach ahead of C.A.R. Clash

Emmanuel Mensah plays for Ghana’s Black Satellites.

Head coach Desmond Ofei urges his team to take their next game seriously.

Ghana will face the Central African Republic (C.A.R.) on Thursday, May 8 at 15:00 GMT. A win could secure Ghana's spot in the quarterfinals as group winners.

Currently, Ghana has four points. They beat defending champions Senegal 1-0 and drew 1-1 with D.R. Congo. This places them second in the group.

Despite being favored to advance, Ofei warns against underestimating C.A.R. He stated, “We need a good result to guarantee qualification.”

He added, “This is like a final for us. We must treat it urgently.” Ofei emphasized that complacency could be dangerous against a hardworking C.A.R. team.

They have shown they can score, so focus is crucial.

Reaching the semifinals would qualify Ghana for the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
