GFA Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong hopes the government will support the appointment of Winfried Schäfer as the Black Stars' technical advisor and GFA technical director.
Schäfer, who won AFCON 2002 with Cameroon, was hired to strengthen the team ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after Ghana missed out on AFCON 2025.
Acheampong admitted that the GFA did not consult the government before making the decision but hopes it will be welcomed.
He also stated that the GFA is ready to assist if the government cannot cover Schäfer’s salary.
Additionally, Desmond Offei has been promoted to Black Stars assistant coach, replacing Joseph Laumann. Kris Perquy joins as a psychologist, while Gregory De Grauwe takes on the role of video analyst.
