Ghana’s Sports Minister-designate, Kofi Adams, has pledged to ensure proper maintenance of the country’s sports facilities to prevent future bans from international bodies.
His assurance follows Ghana’s suspension from using the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers due to its poor condition. This forced the government to relocate matches to Accra Sports Stadium, but the Black Stars failed to qualify for the tournament.
During his vetting, Adams stressed the importance of maintaining facilities to avoid such setbacks. He vowed to instill a strong maintenance culture to keep them in top condition.
Adams, nominated by President John Dramani Mahama, awaits approval from the Appointments Committee. If confirmed, he will focus on improving Ghana’s sports infrastructure to prevent similar issues in the future.
