“We need more than balls and bibs” – Ridge City CEO calls for meaningful support for women’s football

Ridge City CEO Calls for Deeper Support in Women's Football

Cleopatra Nsiah Nketsiah is the CEO of Ridge City Women’s Football Club. She urges stakeholders in Ghana football to provide more than surface-level support. Clubs need direct engagement to understand their real needs.

Ridge City competes in the Women’s Division One League. The club was relegated from the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League three seasons ago. Despite this setback, they continue to seek development and visibility.

“Women’s football is on the rise globally,” Nsiah Nketsiah said. “We need attention from governing bodies focused on our club.” She emphasized that support should extend beyond just the national team.

Nsiah stressed that true support requires consultation and understanding. “Don’t assume you know what we need,” she said. “Ask us what we truly require.”

She pointed out that clubs need more than just equipment like balls and bibs. “We need infrastructure, support, and fans at our games,” she added.

Nsiah encouraged individuals and institutions to engage with grassroots clubs. “Meaningful engagement is key to building a solid foundation for women’s football in Ghana,” she concluded.
