Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has admitted his team was fortunate to suffer only a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash on Tuesday.

The Spanish giants were thoroughly outplayed, with Arsenal’s Declan Rice scoring two stunning free-kicks and Mikel Merino adding a late goal.

Bellingham acknowledged the Gunners’ dominance, saying, “We’re lucky to get away with only three.”

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made several crucial saves to prevent further damage, including denying Rice and Martinelli in quick succession.

Despite the heavy loss, Bellingham expressed hope for the second leg on April 16. Real Madrid, who have never beaten Arsenal, face an uphill battle to overturn the deficit.

“They could have scored more,” Bellingham admitted. “But there’s still a second leg—that’s what we’re holding on to.”
