We spend 7.5 Million Cedis annually on officiating – Kurt Okraku

GFA President Kurt Okraku Discusses Officiating Costs

Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), shared important financial details. The GFA spends about 7.5 million cedis each year on officiating costs.

In an interview with Asempa FM, he explained that the GFA covers all officiating expenses. Normally, clubs would be responsible for these costs.

Okraku mentioned recent payment delays to referees. These issues arose after StarTimes ended their sponsorship deal. This withdrawal has affected the GFA's cash flow.

Despite these challenges, Okraku assured that the GFA maintains good relationships with referees and match commissioners. He noted that last year, all referees were fully paid on time.

Currently, however, non-payment issues have emerged due to financial constraints. Okraku emphasized that many people do not realize how much money the FA spends on match officials.

He reiterated that the GFA is working hard to settle debts owed to referees. "We are doing everything possible to resolve this situation," he stated.

Okraku confirmed that all referees will officiate matches this weekend as usual. The FA is committed to clearing all outstanding payments before the season ends.
