Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has made an announcement. A new broadcast partner for the Ghana Premier League will be revealed soon. This follows the termination of the contract with StarTimes.
The GFA ended its agreement with StarTimes after the 2023/24 season. The broadcaster owes $950,000 to the GFA. As a result, both the Premier League and FA Cup currently lack an official TV partner.
Despite this issue, Mr. Okraku is optimistic about attracting new partners. He stated, "Our Premier League is interesting enough to attract TV partners." He assured that a new partner will be announced soon.
Regarding the termination, he explained: “We have ended our partnership with StarTimes due to their debt.”
In the meantime, local stations are airing matches from both competitions. These include Adom TV, Net2 TV, Metro TV, Original TV, and Globe TV.
The GFA plans to announce its new media partner before the 2024/25 season begins.
