West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is "alert" and conscious after being stretchered off during a 1-0 win at Southampton.
The incident occurred in the 36th minute after Fabianski collided with Southampton’s Nathan Wood during a corner. Treatment was provided on the field for around eight minutes, and Fabianski was replaced by Alphonse Areola. Southampton's goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale checked on Fabianski as he was taken off with an oxygen mask.
Fortunately, Fabianski did not need to go to the hospital. Manager Julen Lopetegui confirmed that Fabianski was talking and feeling better, easing initial concerns. West Ham won the match thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s goal in the 59th minute, despite also losing defender Max Kilman to injury.
