Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi added the phrases "I love Jesus" and "Jesus loves you" to his rainbow captain's armband during matches against Newcastle United and Ipswich Town.
The rainbow armband is part of the Premier League's LGBTQ+ inclusion initiative with Stonewall, promoting acceptance and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
While captains are encouraged but not required to wear the armband, Guehi included his religious message, despite FA rules prohibiting religious statements on kits.
Guehi described his actions as a message of "truth, love, and inclusivity," emphasizing that it was not harmful.
The FA decided not to take formal action but reminded teams of its regulations. The incident has sparked debates about inclusivity, faith, and LGBTQ+ advocacy in football, highlighting ongoing tensions within the sport.
